Puppylove-Animal Assisted Therapy is based in Flitwick, Bedfordshire and currently includes the human/dog team “Katja and Koda“
Katja is a qualified Children’s Nurse specialized in Palliative and Complex care working mainly in Children’s Hospice settings.
During my experiences of bringing my dog Koda into hospices, I realised what an impact an animal brings to many children, young people, their families and to the whole team.
Myself and Koda together gained the qualification as an Animal Assisted Team while working at a Children’s Hospice in Berlin for 5 years.
Following this qualification we provided regular Animal Assisted Activity and Therapy sessions in the Children’s Hospice ranging from 1:1 sessions, group activities as well as emotional therapy with family members.
Together with Koda, we also ran a weekly one hour group session in a care home for up to 9 elderly residents at a time who had fun engaging in different activities.
Koda is the furry assistant. He is an adorable Cockerpoo boy born in 2014. Many hearts have been touched by his charm. Koda enjoys being pampered, playing with balls and loves to show his tricks. He has been trained since a puppy in various classes including agility and dog dance.
